- In some other brands metal detectors the outer resin layer of the search coil has mainly decorative function, i.e. to provide ideal type for sale. This layer is brittle and easily damaged. Therefore, for these brands is necessary to use coil covers (protectors). In contrast, for all BLISSTOOL search coils, the outer epoxy resin layer of the search coil is very robust and durable and has a protective function - it serves as a coil protector, i.e. this is its purpose. Even this layer to be scratched, injured, broken, or even completely removed, the search coil will continue to work well. This is why BLISSTOOL do not offer separate coil protectors (covers). If this layer gets hurt, you can glue it with something epoxy adhesive or epoxy resin, but only resin + eventual for coloring: black dye compatible with the resin and which does not contain metal and metal oxides, and only not conductive materials, i.e. insulators. Dyes containing metal, metal oxides, metal powder or which are conductive, will worsen the work of the search coil.

- No, BLISSTOOL LTC64X v3 can not be upgraded to v4 or v5. Although in appearance, all versions look the same, they have significant differences in their characteristics: depth of detection, stability, discrimination, basic behavior. Therefore, each version must be considered for a different model metal detector, not a upgrade of the previous version. For the same reason, the different versions have different prices, fall in different price range and are offered as different models metal detectors. Not available update from one to another version, i.e. from one model to another model metal detector, because this is associated with a complex and complicated changes in the electronics, which in some cases are even impossible to implement. Updates are possible, only within the same version, where such are available for it.

- Detailed and accurately explanation is available on the BLISSTOOL LTC64X user guide:
http://blisstool.com/data/userguides/BL ... nglish.pdf

Before using your BLISSTOOL LTC64X for the first time, we recommend you to read detailed the user guide, in order to optimally use all its capabilities. Otherwise you can lose a lot of time in finding things already known.

I will try in freestyle to explain some important aspects of DISCRIMINATOR, DISCR LEVEL and DISCR DEPTH.

For a particular field should find the best combination of DISCR LEVEL and DISCR DEPTH. They are independent only at first glance. In practice is very important the combination of both (DISCR LEVEL and DISCR DEPTH). Overall, this is something unique about BLISSTOOL. By doing so you have variety of options for changing the behavior of the metal detector... like you have "several metal detectors" assembled in a single metal detector.

A large number of other brands of metal detectors are factory designed with 100% depth of discrimination. As a result, they miss a lot of coins in depth, particularly in mineralized areas containing iron oxides. If the coin is "egg yolk", the iron oxides in the soil are its "shell (egg shell)", ie the iron oxides mask the coin, such as iron for the metal detector and it miss the coin. On BLISSTOOL, with the DISCR DEPTH potentiometer, the depth of discrimination is adjustable from 0 to 100%, yes this is a unique, but not only that. With different levels of DISCR DEPTH in combination with an appropriate level of DISCR LEVEL, the "egg shell" may become translucent, transparent or invisible, and BLISSTOOL to detect the "egg yolk", ie the coin, that other brands of metal detectors miss in discrimination mode.

Why everything is not linear and simple? Simple things are only in the laboratory. In reality everything is much more complex, soils are very diverse, the same soil vary in depth real or just through "the eyes" of the metal detector. Yes we know that and our goal is with DISCR DEPTH and DISCR LEVEL to adapt in the best possible way.

If we imagine the joint work of DISCR LEVEL and DISCR DEPTH, as "shield" of "horizontal sheets" to the ground located at various depths, sheets close to the surface are the most dense, with smaller holes or without holes. The deepest sheets are with the biggest holes are like network with large holes. When there are no holes iron is ignored. Where there are holes the iron is detected if it can go through these imaginary "holes". How deep in the ground is the deepest imaginary "sheet" depends on the level of DISCR DEPTH. Whether and how big are the holes depends on the level of DISCR LEVEL.

Please note that on the same level of DISCR LEVEL, the holes of the various sheets are different in "diameter" = "effect on permeability"! The difference between the smallest and the largest hole, and the distance between them is determined by the level of DISCR DEPTH.

If we have replaced the imagine "shield composed of horizontal sheets containing holes", with imagine "materials or sieves", those nearest the surface are impervious to iron, and the deeper more permeable to iron, while in the latter, iron passes freely, ie very deep iron ignore more difficult or not entirely.

The example given above shows that the strength of DISCR LEVEL and DISCR DEPTH at different depth in the soil is different, ie the impact weakens, dilute. First it is tightly, then it becomes a semi-permeable and finally disappears.

The switch DISCRIMINATOR serves to regulate the range of DISCR LEVEL and (important), the slope of the imagine "sheets". They must be "horizontal" to be error-free the discrimination of the metal detector. When the "sheets" are inclined, ie not "horizontal", for the horizontal direction, the holes "change" their diameter, ie the "holes" from a circle are converted into "ellipses". This leads to errors in the discrimination. This shift is mainly due to the different soils, although the metal detector is balanced to the soil. Most resistant to different soils is DISCRIMINATOR = III, this is the most self-balancing mode. The most powerful is the discrimination (the range) in DISCRIMINATOR = I. DISCRIMINATOR = II is midway between the two. The three positions (1, 2, 3) of the DISCRIMINATOR switch, makes the metal detector in three different metal detectors, ie change its behavior.

Please excuse me for these comparisons that I do intentionally. My goal is with more affordable way to provoke you to imagine the operation of the various functions. I hope I have not lost your time.

Additional information:

Important: Please note that the difference between DISCR DEPTH = 8, DISCR DEPTH = 9 and DISCR DEPTH = 10 is huge. Details were described above.

A brief visual presentation:
1/ DISCRIMINATOR switch (force, range, sinlessness);
2/ DISCR LEVEL (level, working in width from black to color);
3/ DISCR DEPTH (work in depth, vertical, to where).

In addition, it is not necessary, the user can know how it works in theory his metal detector. It just works for him. Many people just set: DISCR DEPTH = 9, DISCR LEVEL = 5, DISCRIMINATOR = III, because most often it is the best compromise setting, derived based on experience.

In fact, everything is very simple and a vast majority of users quickly and intuitively find the best settings, especially if have some experience. If not, in practice they follow the recommended settings in the user guide and again achieved good results.

Our advice: please carry out a thorough experiments and accumulated large real experience with our BLISSTOOL metal detector. So many questions will be removed. By the way there is no reason for concern. When you test your BLISSTOOL metal detector for the first time, you will be captivated by its extreme depth of detection. Appetite comes with eating :).

According to the user guide of BLISSTOOL LTC64X, it says to keep DISCR DEPTH around level 10 if there are very small rusted nails. How much depth are we loosing keeping it at 10?

- For non or low mineralized soil you do not lose anything. On high mineralized soil you can lose a lot. To avoid this, important, it is recommended, high level of DISCR DEPTH to be combined with low level of DISCR LEVEL, and vice versa. Many people just set: DISCR DEPTH = 9, DISCR LEVEL = 5, DISCRIMINATOR = III, because most often it is the best compromise setting, derived based on experience.

- No, this is nonsense, although initially the user can stay with that impression. However, real, the above statement is false misleading information, ie just a myth.

Detailed and accurately explanation of DISCR LEVEL, DISCR DEPTH and DISCRIMINATOR is available on the BLISSTOOL LTC64X user guide:
http://blisstool.com/data/userguides/BL ... nglish.pdf

Please read it and do not trust myths.

Please remember that the BLISSTOOL detector is designed to search for metal objects buried in the ground. It is not intended to search for metal objects in the air. So primary conclusions based on initial air tests may be wrong.

As already mentioned, the purpose of DISCR LEVEL and DISCR DEPTH are DETAILED in the user guide.

DISCR LEVEL applies FROM Ferrous TO non-ferrous targets in its turn from LEFT to RIGHT. The setting of DISCR DEPTH, VIOLATES a smooth linear function of DISCR LEVEL. This last, initially can confuse many people, to the point where they actually understand how exactly work their BLISSTOOL metal detector. Namely: DISCR DEPTH adjusted to what maximum depth to be rejected the PRESET with DISCR LEVEL reject area (objects, targets for rejections). Depending on the exact current user setting of DISCR LEVEL, and depending on the exact current all other user settings of the metal detector, the reject area can only contain ferrous targets (as iron), or ferrous (black) and non-ferrous (colored) targets simultaneously. At lower levels of DISCR LEVEL, can be rejected only ferrous objects, but at higher levels of DISCR LEVEL, can be rejected ferrous objects (as irons) and non-ferrous objects (usually colored modern pollutants).

Myth: "DISCR LEVEL only applies to non-ferrous targets, and DISCR DEPTH only applies to ferrous targets"

To disprove the above myth, perform the following experiment, or remember this:

/1/ Non-ferrous object with high conductivity and SLIGHT shift in phase, as a foil, tinfoil, may be rejected at great depths only at DISCR DEPTH = 9 or 10, in combination with high level of DISCR LEVEL (4-7);

/2/ Non-ferrous object with low conductivity with high shift in phase, as a coin from material with poor quality and large impurities (bad coin), may be rejected at great depths only at DISCR DEPTH = 10, in combination with high level of DISCR LEVEL (6.5 - 7 - 8) and DISCRIMINATOR = I.

/3/ Small irons are rejected when DISCR DEPTH = 9 or 10 but TOGETHER with DISCR LEVEL (at level minimum 3-5);

/4/ Big irons are rejected when DISCR DEPTH = 1 - 5 - 8 - 10 but TOGETHER with DISCR LEVEL (at level minimum 3-5);

/5/ In the presence of an object distance from 1 cm to about 3 cm (about 1") from the underside of the search coil (there is usually the ground, the soil, the terrain surface), works unique BLISSTOOL ground system (part from SBD technology), which allows the universality of the metal detector, ie work at different sites. Usually the search coil is located at that distance above the ground. At this distance a metallic object can fall only in stupid air tests. For this, detection of metal objects, ie coins, at such distance from the underside of the search coil (from 1 cm to about 3 cm, about 1") is not revealing. For very small objects such microscopic nugget is not a problem.

/6/ To understand the complexity and dependency, make air tests for detection of various objects (little iron, big iron, foil, nice coin, bad coin) in the following settings, and VERY IMPORTANT: Serve the objects at varying distances from the search coil, for example from 5 cm to 50 cm, and monitor the differences in the reaction of the metal detector:

Base settings for all experiments:
GROUND MODE = MAN
GAIN = 6
GROUND FINELY = 5
GROUND RUDELY = 8
TONE = MIN
FREQUENCY = MAX
SILENCER = OFF-2
THRESHOLD = ~ 5.
VOLUME = 4-8

Different settings for several experiments:

1) DISCR LEVEL = 5, DISCR DEPTH = 8, DISCRIMINATOR = III;
2) DISCR LEVEL = 5, DISCR DEPTH = 9, DISCRIMINATOR = III;
3) DISCR LEVEL = 5, DISCR DEPTH = 10, DISCRIMINATOR = III;

4) DISCR LEVEL = 0, DISCR DEPTH = 10, DISCRIMINATOR = III;
5) DISCR LEVEL = 10, DISCR DEPTH = 0, DISCRIMINATOR = III;

6) DISCR LEVEL = 8, DISCR DEPTH = 10, DISCRIMINATOR = III;
7) DISCR LEVEL = 8, DISCR DEPTH = 10, DISCRIMINATOR = I;

8) DISCR LEVEL = 0, DISCR DEPTH = 0, DISCRIMINATOR = III;
9) DISCR LEVEL = 10, DISCR DEPTH = 10, DISCRIMINATOR = I;

10) DISCR LEVEL = ~, DISCR DEPTH = ~, DISCRIMINATOR = ~.

Self performing of these experiments + variations in their settings, will help you very quickly to understand the importance and function of DISCR LEVEL, DISCR DEPTH and DISCRIMINATOR of your BLISSTOOL metal detector.

Please note that the data from air tests you can use for reference only. For real results in fact, you should had a similar experiment in the ground. So, please carry out a thorough self performing experiments and accumulated large real experience with your BLISSTOOL metal detector. This is the best way to remove a lot of questions.

On dry sand? On wet sand? On black sand? In salt water?]]> BLISSTOOL LTC64X can be used to search on the beach? On dry sand? On wet sand? On black sand? In salt water? By immersion in water? On saline soils?

- Yes, all BLISSTOOL LTC64X versions can be optimized directly by the user for these conditions. Generally, BLISSTOOL LTC64X work well on dry sand and wet sand on the beach, and on saline soils. For such conditions, sometimes is necessary, the THRESHOLD potentiometer to be set at lower level (5, 4, 3 or 2) and, if absolute necessity the GAIN potentiometer also to be set at lower level. Also recommended is the search coil to move horizontally, some few centimeters above the surface, ie not very close to the surface. Of course this applies to the worst conditions, as black sand, where sometimes is necessary to work also with low level of DISCR DEPTH. It all depends on the specific conditions, as the composition of the beaches, the beach conditions and the soils anywhere in the world are quite varied. Leading in this case, is that BLISSTOOL LTC64X is extreme depth and universal all-terrain metal detector. It works quite well in all possible conditions.

These tips also apply to work in salt water, with complete immersion of the search coil in salt water. Everything except the electronic block of BLISSTOOL LTC64X, located under the armrest, can be immersion in the salt water. The electronic block of BLISSTOOL LTC64X is not fully protected from water, and BLISSTOOL LTC64X not applicable to underwater search, with full immersion. BLISSTOOL LTC64X allows safe dipping and search only to about 70-90 cm depth of the water, in river, sea, ocean, etc, provided that the electronic block is held entirely over the water. To protect the electronics block from the water is recommended BLISSTOOL LTC64X to be immersed in the water, maximum to the level of the handle. To further protect of the electronic block, in this case can be used the Protective cover of dust, moisture and rain BLISSTOOL PTC4R, but note that it does not provide 100% protection from water. It is desirable to use it and when you leave the metal detector on the beach, ie to protect the electronics block from the sand. Please make sure in advance that you put the stopper of the connector PHONES, if you do not use headphones, because the hole of connector PHONES is an area in which can directly enter a water, sand or dust in the electronics block. Please note that the penetration of water into the electronic block can cause serious damage of your metal detector, or to reduce its performance, so be careful, keep the electronic block totally dry.

For a particular beach, the ground balance for wet sand is the same or close to the ground balance for dry sand. Therefore, before working in wet sand, to achieve stability on the wet sand it is necessary initially to manual ground balance the metal detector on the dry sand to allow for a true reading of the ground without the interference of the wet sand. Once the manual ground balance is achieved on the dry sand use this ground balance setting when working on the wet sand. In addition, on wet sand, may be necessary to drop off the audio threshold into silent through reducing of THRESHOLD of lower level (4, 3 or 2), to eradicate the interference of the ground saturation.

Of course, the wet sand and the salt water creates more interference. This may seem like a lack of a ground balance on the wet sand in the standard "pumping", ie vertical movement of the search coil to find ground balance. In such large interference, which usually leads to false signals, if the initially manual ground balance on the dry sand does not lead to satisfactory results, proceed otherwise: looking for that position and those settings in which, under standard HORIZONTAL movements with the search coil the metal detector does not issue false signals. This is the correct setting for the beach, and especially for: dry sand, wet sand, salt water, saline soils. This is usually achieved in: GROUND MODE = MAN, GROUND RUDELY = "-", GROUND FINELY = "-", ie end leftist positions or near to this, and THRESHOLD set at lower level (4, 3 or 2). Reducing of THRESHOLD of lower level, it is usually necessary, especially on wet sand with large interference. In most cases, GAIN can be set at a high level, at the expense of reducing of THRESHOLD, ie operation without audio threshold.
